To indicate the speaker power of a TV set, transistor and music system the word 'watt' is used. Another word 'volt' is also used. These two words are different things and they have their own meaning. The electric power coming out of the audio amplifier and getting transferred into the speakers is measured in terms of 'watts'. This electric power coming out of the speakers is considered as the power of the speakers. Amplifier plays the role of increasing or decreasing the electric power it receives. The role of the speaker is to convert the electric power into sound.
The term volt indicates the power received by the speaker and also the maximum power it will utilise. The power utilised by the speaker in an hour is measured in terms of volt. On the same line, the term 'sine power' is also used to measure the amount of speaker power. You could have noticed the word PMPO on speakers. It expands to Peak Music Power Output. The term decibel used to measure sound is also used for speakers. This word is used to measure the maximum sound level the speaker can withstand. Music power is the consolidated power of the amplifier and the loud speaker of the music system. RMS or Root Mean Square is also to measure music power.
